ZUMBA® – A near perfect heart-healthy workout!

Are you guilty of not just singing in the car but car dancing every time your favorite jam plays?  Does your foot starting tapping when you hear a dance song?   Lucky for all that desire to dance could be great for your heart health! Zumba® is a great way to fulfill your desire to dance and improve your heart health.

Zumba®’s Heart Benefits

Zumba® consists of intermittent high and lower intensity segments where participants are reaping cardiovascular benefits including lowering your blood pressure and reducing your risk of heart disease. Zumba is able to enhance cardiovascular endurance and cardiorespiratory functions.  Zumba® offers similar cardiovascular benefits to cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, and running.

Zumba® for a Strong You.

In addition to being a great cardiovascular workout also is great for strengthening other parts of your body.  The dance moves found in Zumba® can help improve balance, core stability, and strengthen the muscles of your legs, hips, glutes, back, and core.  Don’t be surprised that after a Zumba session you discover muscles you did not realize you had.

Zumba® as a Motivator

In several research studies, participants enjoyed Zumba® class so much that kept going to class after the study ended (this is very uncommon in aerobic exercise research studies!).  Zumba® has been shown to have a positive impact on self-esteem and decrease anxiety.   Maybe it’s the music that gets your heart going, or moving to the beat, or seeing your Zumba® friends; whatever it is many Zumba® goers often joke that they are addicted.

Zumba® offers a positive way to move more, reap heart benefits, be stronger, and have fun. We hope to see you soon.
